Freedom, and what it means for Legacy

Freedom, when you hear that word what do you think of? I think of not being restrained. Able to go wherever you want with no one stopping you. Now when it comes to freedom in games what do you think of? Does your thoughts on freedom change? Mine doesn't. A lot of times when I'm playing a game I sometime's feel restrained. This is just my personal opinion but I can only play a game with limited freedom for so long. Certain games manage to take my mind off of the lack of freedom, like certain fighting games. But for the most part, if a game doesn't offer a whole lot of freedom, I tend to get bored rather quickly.

This is one of the many reason's why when designing Legacy, I designed it to be open world. I designed it to allow you to have options. To be able to go wherever you wan't to go whenever you want to! You may get your ass kicked by going into an area that has stronger enemies but at least you can still go there. And if you manage to survive and find certain items in an area where you're under-leveled, you can get certain powers to use earlier in the game. Trust me, it wont break it, I designed it that way. You have the freedom to explore everywhere. There are certain spiritual stones in the game that enhance your current, and give you new powers. Certain enemies drop certain stones. That means you have to beat certain enemies to get certain powers. You can go explore a cave, and find a boss. If you beat the boss he may or may not drop a stone. If he does, that's a new power for you to use.

The type of powers you get range from being navigational, offensive, defensive, evasive, and sensory. You will be able to equip and balance your character with whatever power's you wan't. Multiplayer is still in the works but what I'm trying to do with it is allow players to be wherever they want to be in the world and not have to stay close. Similar to the game Kirby And The Amazing Mirror. That's freedom, In Legacy The Governed Island, there will be criminal gangs that you will be able to stop, At any time you could run in to them which I believe add's to the aspect of freedom. Legacy may be 2D, but you still will be able to get immersed in the game. But, that's another topic that I plan on getting to a little later. Keep looking out for Legacy And The Governed Island! It's not too late to support the game or the campaign! Buy some merchandise or donate. The game still needs to get funded. Help make it happen! Anything helps.
